Donald Trump Iran Warning: ‘Something Very Tough’ If No Deal Reached

US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will take ‘something very tough’ action if a new agreement is not reached with Iran, signaling a potential escalation in the Middle East.

Highlights
  • Trump told Israel’s Channel 12 that failure to reach a deal will lead to a ‘very tough’ US response.
  • The US is considering sending a second aircraft carrier to the region, adding to the current ‘armada’.
  • Recent talks in Oman were described as a ‘good start’ despite the military posturing.
  • Iran maintains that its missile program is non-negotiable and warns of retaliation against US bases.

The Ultimatum

In a recent interview with Israel’s Channel 12, President Trump clarified his stance on the ongoing deadlock with Tehran. He stated that while the US prefers a diplomatic resolution, the alternative involves severe measures. ‘Either we reach a deal, or we’ll have to do something very tough,’ the President said, highlighting the pressure his administration is applying to secure a new agreement.

Military Build-up and the ‘Armada’

Washington is currently evaluating the deployment of a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East. Trump confirmed to Axios that a naval strike group is already in place and another may follow. He characterized the naval presence as an ‘armada’ heading to the region, though he also observed that Iran appears to want a deal ‘very badly’ following recent internal crackdowns and economic pressure.

Diplomatic Efforts vs Red Lines

Despite the threats of military action, both nations participated in discussions in Oman last week. Trump described these talks as ‘very good’ and indicated that further negotiations are planned. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi remains firm on Tehran’s defense policy. Araghchi stated that the country’s missile program will not be part of any negotiations and warned that any attack on Iranian soil would result in strikes against US bases in the region.
