A Worthy Initiative by Government of Punjab
Government of Punjab did amazing job. Amidst corona pandemic, Muslims have celebrated two of their highly critical religious occasions. Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha.
Eid-ul-Adha is the festive occasion when Muslims sacrifice an animal in the name of Allah and distribute it among the less fortunate. From the past few years, Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated in peak monsoon (as per moon sighting), unveiling the system’s mismanagement.
Like every year, thousands of animals sacrificed in God’s name, and their skins and waste were thrown away, just like regular waste. But this year, the Government of Punjab took immediate action and made sure no animal waste is present on the roadside or trash cans.
Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has assigned its staff to remove expurgate and clean the city. Before lock down pens up. A day before uplifting the lock down, the roads were all clean, and the trash bins dumped off properly. There were no signs of animal waste and food, even in narrow streets and muhallas.
The weather has been cloudy throughout the week. Due to lesser vehicles on the roads, the city looks greener than before.
Moreover, CM Punjab Mr. Usman Buzdar has planned to start a billion tree program even in Punjab. It will add to the beauty of cities and help lower the urban heatwave. Trees are like oxygen cylinders, and we all know how important they are for saving one’s life.
However, Pakistanis have celebrated Eid-ul-Adha with comparatively lesser stress as Eid-ul-Fitr,. Which led to numerous corona cases in a single day.
Due to the Punjab Government’s smart lock-down, there has been a visible decrease in Corona Patients from the past few days.
There is no doubt that if we continue to follow SOP’s mentioned by the government. We will be able to defeat Covid-19. The credit goes to Punjab government and especially relevant authorities to keep Punjab clean and green on regular days. The special thanks to the laborers who worked hard to maintain cleanliness. It helped Punjab citizens to celebrated their holy occasion with peace.
As can be seen in the chart below, that number of cases has been reduced significantly in Punjab compared to other provinces and the rest of Pakistan. The policy of the Government of Punjab has been very successful and appreciated all over the world.
