Pakistan and India; Mostly it takes a couple of hours after discussion on the hotline before the press release is given by both sides, but this time it was immediate. It appears both sides had already decided on it and hotline contact was just a formality. and Pakistan both are filled with three kinds of people, 1st kind is those who hate their neighbors without knowing them, and anyone who supports acknowledges the goods of their neighbors are told to go there. The second type which doesn’t care what is happening around, they have enough money to eat, sleep and enjoy. The third kind is one that believes in harmony and peace with neighbors, this kind is mostly educated elite on both sides. The book by former spy chiefs from both sides also hinted that both sides can work together in peace and harmony.
The question to be answered here is, what triggered this sudden change? Are both countries learning that fighting is of no use, or they fell pity for people of Kashmir who are suffering on both sides or it was something else? I seriously believe that both sides are not mature enough to think long term due to the mass un-educated right-wing oriented population. One of the key reason is that both sides are looking for a win-win situation as in India its prime rice producing time and many people have taken shelters in schools and hospitals due to the response of Pakistan military on Indian violations of cease-fires in areas of Jammu. In Pakistan, there are upcoming elections so it is good for the military on Pakistan side to get posted on election booths for the longer benefit of avoiding what happened after last elections in 2013. Dhandli, Dharnas, Dramas and De facto elected government.
From a longer perspective, these points are very key in long-term peace between countries. If both sides praise their counterparts for being part of this deal and saving human lives, love will prosper on both sides. Both countries have the great perspective of future trade and business. So such events should not be taken as routine work. They should move forward so that people can leave in peace and more money can be spent on human resource development rather on defense budgets. Human resource development is in dire need on both sides and must be dealt with before it is too late.
It is hoped that things might start moving in the better direction from now on, maybe this is the time, as time never decides when its right, it the people who decide it.
