New Franchises and the Auction Shift
The Pakistan Super League has overhauled its structure for the 2026 edition. Moving away from the traditional draft, the PCB implemented a tiered auction system at the Lahore Expo Centre. This shift allowed franchises to bid directly for talent using base price tiers ranging from PKR 0.6 crore to 4.2 crore. The introduction of Team Rawalpindi, Sialkot Stallionz, and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen has intensified the competition for local and international stars.
Marquee Signings and Category Highlights
Sialkot Stallionz made headlines by securing Australian legend Steve Smith as a direct signing for 14 crore. Other significant direct acquisitions include Moeen Ali for Karachi Kings and Devon Conway for Islamabad United. Established stars like Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi remained with their respective franchises under the Platinum retention category, fetching 7 crore each. The auction also saw high-value bids for players like Naseem Shah, who joined Team Rawalpindi for 8.65 crore.
