PTI TTAP sit-in: Islamabad roads reopen on fourth day
Roads leading to the Parliament House in Islamabad were cleared Monday morning as the sit-in by PTI and the Tehreek Tahafuz-i-Ayeen Pakistan alliance entered its fourth day.
Highlights
- Protest centers on concerns regarding Imran Khan’s medical condition.
- Security blockades around Parliament House were lifted on Monday.
- Opposition alliance demands Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital.
- Protesters merged different sit-in locations into one unified demonstration.
Logistics and Movement at the Protest Site
The sit-in, which began Friday after reports surfaced regarding the PTI founder’s deteriorating vision, saw a shift in logistics as authorities reopened blocked routes. TTAP spokesperson Akhunzada Yousafzai confirmed that protesters could finally access regular food after days of restricted supplies. The alliance decided to merge the demonstrations previously held at Parliament lodges and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House with the main sit-in at Parliament House.
Legal and Medical Demands
The opposition remains firm on its demand for Imran Khan’s medical examination by his personal physicians. While a government medical team visited Adiala Jail on Sunday, the PTI rejected the findings as one-sided. Leaders including Asad Qaiser stated the protest will continue until the PTI founder is shifted to Shifa International Hospital. The alliance is also looking toward the Supreme Court, where a health report is expected to be filed.
