Punjab Budget 2020-21: Rs 56bn tax relief for small businesses in Punjab
In Punjab, public and other political party’s members can be seen criticizing government due to the Punjab budget. Due to current crisis, it was a difficult task for government to balance its priorities and to decide Punjab budget for year 2021. No doubt, PTI- led government has always prioritize country’s benefits and kept their own benefits aside.
In this current situation, where corona has not only disturbed the lives of masses but also negatively affected the economy of Pakistan, it was a great job done by our government. Instead of criticizing government, public should support them so they can do better. Here are some great points mentioned in the budget, tax relief was given to masses by not introducing new taxes, which was a good decision by the government.
Moreover, a decrease will be seen in the government’s expenditure. Government has not prioritize their own expenditures, instead they have started Ehsass program for poor people, for which our government distributed 144 billion among poor not only this, they have also introduced a relief package of 240 billion for this purpose.
Our government is more likely to keep the needs of public as their priority other than their own needs and Ehsass program is a proof of this. Other than this, they decided to give advance payment to the covid’19 front line workers, which is also a great initiative to keep them motivated. Other great points of this budget was no tax on hospitals and health insurance, which was much needed as many people are financially disturbed due to covid’19. Whereas, 244 billion have been allocated for health sector, 391 billion for education section and 331 billion for food sector.
Education sector in Punjab Budget
In a country like Pakistan, where many people are deprived of basic necessities of life, including education, it was a great job done by the government to prioritize these sectors in the budget. This budget seems to be designed to tackle the health, education, food crisis, to help poor people and to deal with other economic crisis. Securing livelihood of people through Ehsas program, ensuring food security and making investments for education development and to fill health infrastructure gaps are the priorities in the Punjab budget.
In my opinion, this budget is the best one can decide in these current circumstances by keeping in mind needs of people living in Punjab. In these time of global crisis, where everyone is facing challenges in their daily lives. We need to trust our government as they are trying their best to control these circumstances and tackle the challenges faced by masses. Instead of criticizing them, we should support them as they are prioritizing our needs above their own needs.
