Sardar Usman Ahmad Khan Buzdar

Sardar Usman Ahmad Khan Buzdar is a politician who has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, he Elected in the General Election 2018. Later in August, he was nominated as a candidate of Chief Minister of Punjab by Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

He was politically affiliated to Pakistan Muslim League (Q) from 2002 to 2008 and was District Nazim of Taunsa. Later he joined Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N).

He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Constituency PP-286 (Dera Ghazi Khan-II) in Pakistani general election, 2018. He received 26,897 votes and defeated independent candidate Khawaja Muhammad Nizamul Mehmood.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday nominated Sardar Usman Ahmad Khan Buzdar for the coveted slot of Punjab chief minister.

According to media reports, the decision was taken after Buzdar held an important meeting with PTI chief Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen in Bani Gala.

He had garnered 26,897 votes from PP-286 Taunsa Sharif and defeated independent candidate Khawaja Muhammad Nizamul Mehmood.

Buzdar remained a member of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) from 2002-2008 and later switched to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

In 2013, he contested the elections on PML-N’s ticket but lost to a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate.

In Musharraf era, he remained the district Nazim of Taunsa and his father, Fatah Muhammad Buzdar, is the chief of Buzdar tribe and a thrice-elected Member of National Assembly (MNA).

It is worth mentioning here that rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has already nominated ex-Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif’s son, Hamza Shahbaz, for Punjab’s top slot.

Imran Khan said in a video message posted on his party’s page

“Sardar Usman is from one of the most underdeveloped areas of the province. Sardar Usman knows how people live in such underdeveloped areas, he is an MNA whose own house is without electricity. His nomination fits our vision of bringing people from such areas forward,”

Sources had said on Thursday that the party is trying to bring someone from South Punjab as their nominee for CM Punjab slot. The party’s toughest opponent in Punjab Assembly, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), on the other hand, has nominated former CM Punjab’s son Hamza Shahbaz Sharif as the candidate for the slot.
